PICTURED ROCKS NATIONAL LAKESHORE - October 2016: A peeling birch tree photographed with the sun filtering through other trees creating highlights and shadows in Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. While on a hike I noticed a group of birch trees including this very large tree and the way the light was filtering through the forest hitting it. I spent a good 30 or 40 minutes watching the light hit this tree, photographing it from many angles.
