UPPER PENNINSULA, MICHIGAN - FEBRUARY 2017: Many shapes of ice form along Miners Falls from water seeping out of the sandstone and spray from the falls when not all the way frozen seen February 15, 2017 in Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore near Munising, Michigan. To reach the falls in winter requires a much further hike, snowshoe or ski trip then in summer. Miners Castle Road is only plowed to Carmody Road in winter. You can park where the plowing ends and from there its about 2.5 miles to the falls. There is an easier way of you have a snowmobile since they are allowed on Miners Castle Road. Just ride to the parking area and then its a half mile hike to the falls.
